Ventura County Fusion vs. LA Misioneros FC

LA Misioneros FC scored a late goal to deny the Ventura County Fusion in a hotheaded encounter at the Ventura College Sportsplex that ended 2-2.

With only four minutes left in the match, LA Misioneros player Javier Castro broke the hearts of the Fusion fans with an incredible free kick to tie the game.

The Misioneros started the game strong, controlling play with ease, keeping the Fusion on the back foot. Their early dominance was rewarded when Edgar Contreas scored a well placed finish in the eighth minute.

The Fusion didn’t take the goal lying down and fought back with a 15th minute strike from stand out player James Kiffe, with an assist from Jordan Rideout. The power of Kiffe was evident through out the match, with the Fusion player dictating play for the majority of the first half.

The match was a highly physical encounter, with Misioneros players not afraid to flex their musles and try and boss their way across the pitch. The Fusion were equal to it, and took the lead late in the second half through a fantastic effort from John Lopez in the 84th minute.

With the score 2-1 in favor of the Fusion so late in the game, fans could be forgiven for believing the match was won, but Javier Castro had other plans.

Castro stepped up at the 86th minute to strike a perfectly placed free kick into the bottom right corner of Fusion goalkeeper Trey Mitchell’s goal, sending the home crowd into a stunned silence.

The Fusion pushed for a late winner, but it was not ment to be as the match ended 2-2.
