The Sacred Space

The Sacred Space in Summerland, California, has had visitors ranging from Oprah Winfrey to people on a journey to rediscover themselves. This tranquil treasure chest is full of inspirational and encouraging mantras, as well as a staff that makes you feel right at home.

Jack Herschorn, a former chiropractor decided he wanted to do something different with his life so he decided to move his family to Summerland, California. After the transition, Herschorn opened a well-known bagel shop in the Santa Barbra area called, “Jack’s Bagels.”  Although the bagel shop was doing well, Herschorn and his wife Rose still felt something was missing. After long consideration the Herschorns decided to pack up their things, once again, gather their children, and take a sabbatical to discover the world and re-discover themselves. Two years later, in 2006, The Sacred Space was born.

“There is nothing like coming to work and encountering a life changing situation with a visitor.” Stacy (who chose not to reveal her last name for privacy reasons) has been an employee at The Sacred Space for the past 8 years and has loved every minute of it. “I love the journals we have around the garden, it allows our visitors to write their thoughts and feelings as they venture on their journey.”

The Sacred Space is a place where travelers from every which way come to discover a little bit more of who they are supposed to be. While learning about themselves they encounter the beautiful souls that work at The Sacred Space, and it doesn’t hurt that they offer you a complementary cup of tea. It has been said that it’s the journey not the destination and Jack and Rose Herschorn have made a place for people to visit during their travels.
